Booking Tips & Essential Travel Information
Provided by Ospito Consorzio a r.l.
Welcome to the Booking Tips guide by Ospito Consorzio a r.l. Whether you are booking accommodations, tailored tours, or private transfers across Apulia through our B2B platform, we want to ensure your reservation process is smooth, transparent, and fully compliant with your expectations.
Below you will find useful tips and essential legal/operational information regarding your bookings.
1. Plan and Seasonality in Apulia
Apulia is a highly sought-after destination, especially during the peak summer season (July–August) and local cultural events.
Accommodations: To secure the best boutique hotels, masserie, or trulli, we highly recommend booking at least 3 to 6 months in advance. Last-minute rates may fluctuate based on real-time availability, but early booking guarantees the best price-to-quality ratio.
Tours & Transfers: Experiences and private drivers have limited daily availability. Booking these alongside your accommodation ensures a seamless travel itinerary without logistical gaps.
2. Transparent Pricing and Italian VAT (IVA)
In compliance with Italian and EU fiscal regulations, all rates displayed on our platform for customers are fully transparent.
The prices listed include Italian VAT (IVA – Imposta sul Valore Aggiunto), which varies depending on the service (typically 10% for accommodation and passenger transport, and 22% for other services).
Tourist Tax (Imposta di Soggiorno): Please note that many Italian municipalities apply a local tourist tax per person, per night. This tax is usually not included in the booking total and must be paid directly at the property upon check-in or check-out, as mandated by local municipal regulations.
3. Understanding Cancellation Policies (Recesso e Cancellazione)
Every accommodation, tour, or transfer service provider on our platform may apply different cancellation rules based on their specific terms. Before confirming any reservation, always carefully review the applicable policy:
Refundable Rates: Allow you to cancel your booking free of charge up to a specific date and time indicated during the booking process.
Non-Refundable Rates (Tariffe Non Rimborsabili): Usually offer a discounted price but require full payment at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation or a no-show, no refund will be issued, in accordance with Art. 1385 of the Italian Civil Code (Caparra Confirmatoria).
We strongly advise purchasing a comprehensive travel insurance policy to cover unexpected cancellations or trip interruptions.
4. Secure Payments and Fraud Prevention
Ospito Consorzio a r.l. prioritizes the security of your transactions.
All online payments on our platform are processed through secure, encrypted gateways compliant with European PSD2 regulations and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) standards.
Ensure that the credit card or payment method used belongs to the main traveler or that you have explicit authorization to use it, to avoid automatic safety blocks during the verification process.
5. Check-In Requirements and Italian Public Safety Law
When booking accommodations in Italy, please keep in mind the local regulatory requirements for host-guest registration:
All Guests Must Present Valid ID: Upon arrival at your accommodation, all guests (including minors) must present a valid passport or national identity card.
According to Italian Public Safety Law (Testo Unico delle Leggi di Pubblica Sicurezza - TULPS), hosts are legally required to register guest details and report them to the local police (Portale Alloggiati Web) within 24 hours of arrival. Failure to provide valid documentation will prevent the property from legally allowing you to check in.
